The University of Pittsburgh is located in the neighborhood of Oakland, Pittsburgh. Oakland is a diverse urban environment whose main business district features many shops and restaurants. Also in Oakland are the famed Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie Museum of Natural History, located just a few blocks from the William Pitt Union conference facilities. Schenley Plaza, the newest green space added to the campus, is a sprawling lawn which functions as the gateway to Schenley Park, one of the largest urban parks on the east coast. In Schenley Park you will find 456 acres of rolling hills, trails, tennis courts, and a golf course. Also in Schenley Park is the Phipps Conservatory, a Victorian glasshouse founded in 1893 and considered to be one of the finest botanical gardens in the country. Phipps is just a short walk from the conference facilities.
