Industry Studies

Prof.Frank Giarratani with students at the U.S. Steel Edgar Thompson Works
outside of Pittsburgh, PA

The Center for Industry Studies was established in 2001 to advance academic research concerning industry that is based on deep understanding of firms and the markets in which they compete.  Research supported by the Center is informed by the practical experience of industry and often requires extensive field research.  To this end, the Center encourages communication between scholars and industry practitioners as a means of building partnerships that can enhance the impact of academic research, yield educational opportunities, and promote economic development.

While the Center is housed in the Department of Economics, its scope is multidisciplinary.  We welcome your inquiries.
